Chelsea have opted against pursuing a move for Al Ittihad striker Karim Benzema, according to a report . The Blues are open to a move for a new forward this month ahead of making a big splash in the summer, when Napoli's Victor Osimhen is expected to be a top target. When report s from Saudi Arabia emerged suggesting Benzema could be on the hunt for a return to Europe, Chelsea were quickly touted as potential suitors, with many fans drooling over the prospect of a six-month loan for the 36-year-old. However, according to The Athletic , Chelsea have ruled out a move for Benzema before the January transfer window shuts. Bears - Panthers: NFL Thursday Night Football injury report | Will Justin Fields play?

The Chicago Bears are set to face the Carolina Panthers tonight. In their final injury report s, both teams have revealed. Tyson Bagent will start at quarterback again for the Bears. He’s filling in for Justin Fields the last three Game s and has shown some impressive skills, but he has become turnover-prone, with six turnovers in his past two Game s. Although coach Matt Ebrflus said that Justin Fields is “progressing every day,” he confirmed that Fields is not medically cleared yet. The official injury report lists Fields as doubtful with a right thumb injury he sustained on October 15. However, Eberflus has stated that Fields is out and that Bagent will start, with Nathan Peterman as the backup. Fields will have the opportunity to throw and assess his feelings during pre Game on Thursday, which is why he has been designated doubtful. VIDEO: Justin Fields throwing at practice today. Over 3,000 migrants have hit NYC shelter time limit, report says

About 3,000 asylum-seekers have been told their time was up in New York City shelters, but about half have reapplied to stay NEW YORK -- About 3,000 asylum-seekers have been told their time was up in New York City shelters, but about half have reapplied to stay, according to a newspaper report. The United States' most populous city has struggled to contend with the arrival of over 120,000 asylum-seekers in the past year. About 60,000 are currently in shelter s run by the city, which is legally required to provide emergency housing to homeless people. The obligation is unmatched in any other major U.S. city. Mayor Eric Adams announced in July that New York would start giving adult migrants 60 days' notice to move out of city shelter s. The policy has since been extended to families with children, and tightened to 30 days for adults not accompanied by youngsters. Migrants, many of whom don't have legal authorization to work, can reapply for shelter if they can't find fi

US jobs report for August could point to a moderating pace of hiring as economy gradually slows

Slowly and steadily, an overheated American job market is returning to room temperature WASHINGTON -- Slowly and steadily, an overheated American job market is returning to room temperature. The Labor Department is expected to report Friday that U.S. employers — companies, nonprofits and government agencies combined — added 170,000 jobs last month, according to a survey of forecasters by the data firm FactSet. That would be down from the 187,000 jobs that were added in July and would be the lowest monthly gain since December 2020. “We are beginning to see this slow glide into a cooler labor market,’’ said Becky Frankiewicz, chief commercial officer at the employment firm ManpowerGroup. “Make no mistake: Demand is cooling off. ... But it’s not a freefall.’’ The latest sign that the pace of hiring is losing some momentum — without going into a nosedive — would be welcomed by the Federal Reserve, which has been trying to tame i NFL ation with a series of 11 interest rate hikes.
