Jurgen Klopp's record in cup finals

Image
Long before Jurgen Klopp announced his shock decision to step down as Liverpool manager in the summer of 2024, the German head coach was already pondering his side's legacy. "In 20 years if you talk about this team," Klopp mused, "I would not be surprised if people would say: 'Yes they were good but they should have won more'." Liverpool would certainly have another couple of Premier League trophies had it not been for a record-shattering Manchester City but Pep Guardiola's side cannot be solely to blame for the size of Klopp's trophy cabinet. Here's a look at Klopp's decidedly mixed record in finals over the years. Man Utd vs Wigan: Complete head-to-head record

Image
Manchester United and Wigan Athletic have one of the more minor rivalries in the north west of England, with every smaller club in the region desperate to get a win over nearby giants like the Red Devils, Liverpool or Manchester City. With Wigan shifting between the Championship and League One in recent years, clashes between the two sides are a lot less frequent than they were in the past. It's a rivalry almost entirely dominated by Man Utd, with the Latics only ever winning a single match against the Red Devils. However, there have also been an abnormal number of trophy-clinching games between the two teams despite Wigan boasting a more modest background compared to United's trophy-filled history. Here's the complete head- to -head record between Man Utd and Wigan as well as five of the biggest matches between them. Memorable games Man Utd 4-0 Wigan - February 2006 Wigan 0-2 Man Utd - May 2008 Wigan 1-2 Man Utd - May 2009 Wigan 1-0 Man Utd - April 2012 Man Utd 2-0 Wigan...

What is Messi’s The Best record? How many times has he won the FIFA award?

Image
The finalists for The Best FIFA Award were announced on Thursday, and Lionel Messi is among them. The Argentine is alongside two other hopefuls for the individual prize - Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé - in what is yet another achievement for the Inter Miami forward , and the World Cup winner has been recognised once again for his talent on the pitch. Curiously, the top three are the same nominees as the Ballon d’Or finalists, which was won by the Argentine. As for the other candidates, Manchester City’s Norwegian striker had a 2022-23 campaign full of memorable moments and great goals: he broke record after record in the Premier League and finished as top scorer and winner of the UEFA Champions League , a trophy which went well with his Premier League and FA Cup already sealed earlier in the campaign. Pep Guardiola’s hat-trick could put Haaland as the favourite for the prize. 🇦🇷 Lionel Messi... 🏆 Won 2022-23 French Ligue 1 🥇 Became all-time top scorer in the top five Europe...

LeBron James tracker: Lakers star on pace to break Kareem's scoring record next week; just 89 points shy

Hard as it is to believe, LeBron James record ed his first triple-double this season on Tuesday, notching 28 points , 11 assists and 10 rebounds in the Lakers' 129-123 overtime victory over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.  The stat line notwithstanding, this was not one of LeBron's better games, particularly with how great he's been playing of late. But he'll take the victory, and of course, the 28 points draw him even closer to the NBA's all-time scoring record, which he's now less than 100 points from breaking.  Here's an updated look at where LeBron stands vs. Kareem's 38,387 career points. ALL-TIME SCORING LEADER CAREER POINTS POINTS TO PASS Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 38,387 ___ LeBron James 38,299 89 For the season, James is now averaging 30.2 points per Game .
