Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs will travel to Wells Fargo Center to take on Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers, and I have you covered with my best bet from this matchup using the latest NBA odds. While Embiid and Wembanyama are two of the most entertaining big men to watch in the NBA, I'm going to have you locked in on a different player. The name of the game is to win units, and I see an edge with this player's assists prop. Find out who I'm betting on in my free NBA picks for the Spurs vs. 76ers on January 22. Spurs vs 76ers odds Spurs vs 76ers predictions When handicapping this matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers, almost everything revolves around whether we'll see Joel Embiid suit up. Based on the movements we're seeing in the market for the player props and the spread, I would say Embiid is playing tonight. There has been a lot of chatter about whether Embiid will even be eligible to win the NBA MV...

Joel Embiid boosts MVP case, but Cavs coach blasts overturned call that kept 76ers star on the floor

Cleveland Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff and Wednesday's officiating crew have a difference of opinion. With 4:12 left in the Cavs' eventual loss against the Philadelphia 76ers, Evan Mobley drew a charge against Sixers star Joel Embiid. It was Embiid's sixth foul. Philadelphia coach Doc Rivers challenged the call, and after a review, the referees overturned it. Cleveland trailed 108-101 when the foul was called and lost 118-109. "He drew a hell of a charge to get Embiid his sixth foul," Bickerstaff told reporters after the 118-109 loss. "He did a hell of a job. It's clear as day that's a charge. There's no doubt about it. The call was made on the floor. He stands in between him and the basket. They lower the shoulder. I thought Evan competed, laid it all out on the line. Guys ought to be rewarded for that. If you're willing to stick your nose in there, sacrifice your bo...

Ranking NBA's top five title contenders: Warriors ahead of Celtics; 76ers, Nuggets miss cut

With less than a month to go in the 2022-23 NBA regular season, there is still so much to be decided in the seeding races. But however it shakes out, I believe that a somewhat reliable championship picture, albeit a pretty vast one, is starting to develop.  Below are my top five title contenders as is stands right now ...  1. Milwaukee Bucks Winners of 21 of their last 23, the Bucks look like the best team in the Eastern Conference, at least, as they continue to faze Khris Middleton back into the fold.  That Milwaukee currently rocks the best record in the league despite the Big 4 of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, Middleton and Brook Lopez (who could be the Defensive Player of the Year) starting just five games all season together is a bright-red warning to any and all challengers, particularly if Middleton, who had a season-high 31 in Milwaukee's huge win over Sacramento on Monday, settles into somethi...

Five 76ers trade targets and potential deals to land them, including familiar faces to back up Joel Embiid

As a team near the top of the Eastern Conference playoff picture, largely happy with its current rotation and short on moveable assets, the Philadelphia 76ers aren't expected to be major players at the Feb. 9 NBA trade deadline this season. However, that doesn't mean they won't look to upgrade the roster around the edges. Specifically, the Sixers would probably benefit from some added depth at the center spot and on the perimeter.  With that in mind, here's a look at five potential trade targets for Philadelphia ahead of next week's deadline.  1. Andre Drummond, Chicago Bulls Philadelphia's most glaring need heading into the trade deadline is the backup center spot. Montrezl Harrell and Paul Reed have both shown some flashes of solid play, but neither has definitively secured the role of backup big behind Joel Embiid. It's been shown over the years how important that spot is, as Embi...

NBA Power Rankings: Celtics reclaim top spot over Nuggets; 76ers, Kings enter top five; Hawks taking flight

One of the low-key hilarious lines of the classic 1971 version of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory is delivered by Charlie's schoolteacher, played by a perfectly deadpan David Battley: "I've just decided to switch our Friday schedule to Monday, which means that the test we take each Friday on what we learned during the week will now take place on Monday before we've learned it. But since today is Tuesday, it doesn't matter in the slightest." This otherwise random blast from the past is relevant because, in case you haven't noticed, we've moved our NBA Power Ran kings from Friday to Monday! And if you're reading this on Tuesday, it doesn't matter in the s light est. Anyway, I'm sure not all of you showed up for quotes from Mr. Turkentine, so let's get on with the rankings for this week (well, actually 10 days), which saw a ne...
