Arsenal 5-0 Crystal Palace: Player ratings as Gabriel stars in routine Gunners victory

Image
Arsenal eased to a 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday lunchtime at the Emirates Stadium, bringing a four-game winless run in all competitions to an end. The Gunners took the lead early in the first half, centre-back Gabriel climbing above the Palace defence to head the hosts in front. The defender then struck again before the break, another far-post header offering Mikel Arteta's side a two-goal cushion. In a straightforward second half, Leandro Trossard managed to grab a third for Arsenal with 59 minutes on the clock before Gabriel Martinelli's stoppage-time brace gave the Gunners a Health y victory after their mini-break. How the game unfolded After successive Premier League defeats, Arsenal knew the importance of coming away from Saturday's early kick-off with all three points. However, it didn't take the Gunners too long to punish Crystal Palace's five-man defence. Declan Rice swung in a wonderful far-post corner from Arsenal's left-hand side just ...

Chelsea's victory against Fulham overshadowed by ironic erasure of their winning culture

Image
FROM STAMFORD BRIDGE - Chelsea managed to put their Carabao Cup disappointment behind them with a 1-0 win at home to west London neighbours Fulham on Saturday. Mauricio Pochettino came in for heavy criticism after his side were beaten 1-0 at Championship side Middlesbrough in the first leg of their semi-final in midweek. He desperately needed a victory back in Premier League action to stave off talk of the sack. His Blues side chalked up three points as hoped for and expected, but only by means of a Cole Palmer penalty. Fulham scarcely threatened, but Chelsea's biggest battle was with themselves. The benefit of lacking a European campaign and a slowly-clearing injury list (or at least the same faces are out at any given time rather than a rotating cast) is Chelsea have been afforded some continuity over the last couple of months. Pochettino sides typically waken from early-season slumber in the festive period, and his boys in blue have now won four home Premier League Game s on ...

Wolves 2-1 Chelsea: Player ratings as Matt Doherty strike seals victory

Image
Christopher Nkunku's first goal for Chelsea couldn't save his side from defeat as Wolves secured a well-deserved victory at Molineux on Christmas Eve. After a tight first half, Mario Lemina headed in the opener in the 51st minute. The Wanderers held off pressure from the Blues before substitute Matt Doherty vitally doubled their lead in second-half stoppage time. Nkunku was left free to nod in a cross from Raheem Sterling to reduce the deficit, but no equaliser came as Wolves moved up to 11th, level on points with Chelsea. How the game unfolded Chelsea were without usual midfield pairing Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, leaving Lesley Ugochukwu to partner Conor Gallagher as the visitors made a bright start. A smart challenge was needed from Lemina to stop Armando Broja getting a shot away after Raheem Sterling wriggled from on the left. The Blues again failed to take advantage of a promising situation in the 11th minute as Malo Gusto's cross evaded Broja before Gallagher...

Erik ten Hag reaches Man Utd milestone with Fulham victory

Image
Erik ten Hag reach ed a personal milestone as Manchester United manager on Saturday as his side earned a vital 1-0 victory at Fulham. Bruno Fernandes' late strike ensured the Red Devils picked up their sixth Premier League win of the season following consecutive 3-0 defeats to Manchester City and Newcastle United, the latter ending their defence of the Carabao Cup. Must-win games against Kobenhavn in the Champions League and Luton in their final league outing before the November international break are up next, but Ten Hag might pause momentarily to recognise a feat he reached with Saturday's success at Craven Cottage. The Dutchman has now reached 50 victories in charge of United from 79 games in all competitions. He's the joint-fastest alongside Ernest Mangnall, who managed the club from 1903 to 1912 and led them to their first major trophy with the 1908 First Division title, to reach that mark. Erik ten Hag's first 50 wins as Man Utd manager Com Pet ition Games Win...

Horse Racing picks for Parx race track on Tuesday, October 3: Double Dreaming of a victory

There is plenty of great Horse Racing across America on Tuesday, including at Parx race track . We have been in fine form with our picks for a long time now and we are up +181.05 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling! Here are our best bets for today’s action at Parx. 1:07 pm Parx (Race 2) – Jesus’ Dream 2/1 (2-star play) The gelding showed early speed prior to fading into fifth in an eight runner $40,000 maiden claiming contest over a mile on a sloppy main track at Monmouth Park when making his debut in August. The drop in trip appeared to suit when beaten three-quarters-of-a-length into third in a $30,000 maiden claimer over five-and-a-half-furlongs here just under a month ago. Subsequently placed second following the DQ of Nuedorf (who re-opposes here) he looks capable of breaking his maiden here.  1:34 pm Parx (Race 3) – Double Dream 9/5 (2-star play) The daughter of Curlin...
