Super Bowl Sunday injury update

Image
The Super Bowl LVIII injury report for both the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs is not exactly rosy, but it is fairly pleasant reading. Kansas City knew that their defensive line would be without Charles Omenihu after suffering a torn ACL in the AFC championship Game . Now, their line thins out on the offensive side of the ball as well with the announcement that Joe Thuney has a pectoral injury and will not play in the Super Bowl. They will use Nick Allegretti to fill the gap, but together with Prince Tega Wanogho ’s quad injury , it is going to weaken that front without doubt. The 49ers enter the Super Bowl with a clean bill of health 🙌https://t.co/bPPoAyAml5 — 49ers on NBCS (@NBCS49ers) February 11, 2024 The good news for Kansas City is that Rashee Rice is looking like he has returned well from his ankle treatment , but Jerick McKinnon is still questionable with a groin strain. The decision on whether or not he will play is going to be made at Game time. Related

Inter Miami injury update: Facundo Farías off injured against El Salvador

Image
Inter Miami’s first preseason match, a 0-0 draw against El Salvador , left several questions that the team and coaching staff will surely have already taken into account to continue their preparations for the 2024 MLS season . Just a few hours after the scoreless draw against El Salvador, Inter Miami flew home to begin preparations for the next pre-season fixture against FC Dallas at the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Added to the stodgy Game is the worry with which The Herons returned to Miami: there is concern over Facundo Farías , who had to leave the field on a stretcher after a moment of madness in midfield against Darwin Ceren. This is probably the most frustrating aspect of the trip to El Salvador and what Inter Miami bel

Mohamed Salah injury latest: When will Salah be back for Liverpool?

Image
Egypt and Liverpool supporters will breathe a sigh of release to read that a statement released on Friday confirms that Mohamed Salah’s injury is not thought to be serious. The 31-year-old has suffered a back muscle strain , reports the Egyptian FA, rather than the more serious hamstring issue rumored online. Salah was substituted in the first half of his nation’s 2-2 draw against Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations. The Liverpool forward pulled up shortly before the break and immediately signaled to the bench. However the Egyptian FA had more positive news on Friday. An official statement read: “The X-rays that Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Egyptian national team, underwent showed that he suffered a strain in the posterior muscle . “ He will miss the team’s next two matches in the African Nations , against Cape Verde and then the Round of 16 match in the event of qualification.” 🇪🇬 The Egyptian Football Association announce that Mo Salah will be out for two matches at the Afric

Mauricio Pochettino admits he is 'worried' by Christopher Nkunku's hip injury

Image
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has admitted to being worried by the hip injury currently plaguing star forward Christopher Nkunku. Nkunku missed the first four months of the season after suffering a knee injury in the summer, and he managed just four games back before picking up a hip injury in training which has kept him sidelined for the last two matches. Reports initially suggested Nkunku's latest issue was a minor one which would require minimal time out of action, but the Frenchman is yet to return to training and Pochettino admitted he is unsure what is going on with Nkunku's fitness. "I do worry about the situation of Nkunku," he admitted. "I think it's now [been] ten days he cannot train. We are assessing him. We don't know what's going to happen. I'm a little bit worried about the situation of Nkunku. "I remember my press conference after this happened. It was a small issue and it complicated and it's been between eight

Liverpool to consider January centre-back signing after Joel Matip injury blow

Image
Liverpool may accelerate their plans to sign a new centre -back in light of Joel Matip's serious knee injury , 90min understands. The Reds had already planned to bring in another central defender next summer, with Goncalo Inacio, Lucas Beraldo, Piero Hincapie and Arthur Theate among the players to have been scouted in previous months. But Matip's recent ACL rupture, which will likely sideline him for the rest of the season and may potentially end his Liverpool career given that he's out of contract in June, could force the club into a rethink over timing and potential targets, knowing that the players near the top of their centre-back shopping list are unlikely to be available mid-season. 90min understands that Liverpool feel a deal could be done for Bayer Leverkusen centre -back Jonathan Tah in January, and there's an expectation that, were a transfer to be pulled off, the Germany international could seamlessly slot into the side if and when required. The San Francisco 49ers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and head into Sunday’s match-up at Levi’s Stadium feeling slightly better about life after posting much-needed victories on NFL week 10. 49ers and Bucs end losing streaks Kyle Shanahan’s team comfortably defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-3 last time out, ending a run of three successive losses . That streak had come as something of a surprise considering they had started the season with five victories on the spin, and they rediscovered their mojo against the Jags, passing the 30-point barrier having only managed 17 in their last three Game s. #SaluteToService Game on deck 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/Z7ewCCZsgO — San Francisco 49ers (@49ers) November 18, 2023 The Bucs brought an even worse run to a halt - four defeats in a row - on week 10, seeing off the Tennessee Titans with similarly few problems (20-6). Bears - Panthers: NFL Thursday Night Football injury report | Will Justin Fields play?

The Chicago Bears are set to face the Carolina Panthers tonight. In their final injury report s, both teams have revealed. Tyson Bagent will start at quarterback again for the Bears. He’s filling in for Justin Fields the last three Game s and has shown some impressive skills, but he has become turnover-prone, with six turnovers in his past two Game s. Although coach Matt Ebrflus said that Justin Fields is “progressing every day,” he confirmed that Fields is not medically cleared yet. Pep Guardiola provides worrying injury update on John Stones

Pep Guardiola has admitted that John Stones will be "out for a while" after sustaining an injury in Manchester City's win over Young Boys. The England international recently returned to acton after a near two-month absence because of a hip injury. Stones missed 12 games for both club and country between August and October before making a cameo appearance in Manchester City's defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in October. Since then, Stones has made six appearances for City and England, but has completed the full 90 minutes just once. Stones was restricted to just 45 minutes of action in City's 3-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday evening - a win which sees City safely through to the knockout rounds of the com Pet ition - and speaking after the Game , Guardiola revealed that his half-time substitution was due to a muscle injury the defender had suffered. "It’s muscular, he is injured, so he’ll be a while out. It is a pity for hi

How bad is the Neymar injury? Brazilian star stretchered off

Image
Neymar Jr was stretcher ed off the pitch after picking up what appeared to be a serious knee injury . The 31-year-old forward tripped in an innocuous-looking incident in Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay , which Brazil went on to lose 2-0. Neymar went down shortly before halftime and was immediately surrounded by teammates. He left the field on a stretcher , in tears. Richarlison came on to replace the man who he has described as his hero. Given his age and fitness problems, this latest issue could pose a real threat to the Brazilian’s ability to play at the highest level . The team’s medical staff have not yet released any information on the extent of the injury . Full screen The 31-year-old immediately signalled to the bench. Bukayo Saka injury history

Image
Bukayo Saka's undiluted addiction to football has been prevalent since his schooldays. After Arsenal won the race to sign a nine-year-old Saka, fending off competition from Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford among others, the impish winger didn't tell his new club that he was still playing for his school team before training with the Premier League side each evening. "That love of football," Saka argues, "is the most important thing which helped me become successful." Saka may look like he should still be wearing his school uniform but the baby-faced winger has been a fixture of Arsenal's first team over the last four years. A remarkable durability even in the face of constant blows from opposition full-backs has underpinned Saka's ascent. Arsenal learn extent of Gabriel Magalhaes injury on Brazil duty

Gabriel Magalhaes was spotted in Brazil training on Sunday, easing fears that the Arsenal centre-back had picked up an injury during the 5-1 win over Bolivia earlier in the weekend. In what was his international debut, Gabriel was given a start and managed 85 minutes before heading to the bench, where he was spotted with an ice pack on his thigh. With Arsenal already without both Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey due to injuries as well, losing Gabriel would leave Mikel Arteta incredibly light at the back as he prepares for meetings with Everton, PSV Eindhoven and arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Fortunately for Gunners fans, it appears as though Gabriel has made a quick recovery from his issue as he was spotted in full training on Sunday. Globo Esporte add that the 25-year-old underwent scans after the Bolivia game but no injury was detected, and the centre-back is now expected to retain his starting spot when Brazil face Peru for their next 2026 qualifier in the early hours of Wednes

Khris Middleton injury update: Bucks star leaves game vs. Bulls with knee soreness

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Bucks star Khris Middleton left the team's Game against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night due to right knee soreness in the first quarter. Middleton was later ruled out for the remainder of the Game .  Less than a minute after the opening tip, Middleton drove baseline and missed a fadeaway jumper over Patrick Williams. He appeared to tweak something upon landing, and was moving with a noticeable hitch as ran back down the floor. While he remained in the game to play the rest of his first quarter stint, he missed all three of his shot attempts and did not return after that.  Middleton came up lame after attempting a fadeaway jumper on the Bucks' first offensive possession of tonight's game. Steph Curry injury update: Warriors targeting Jan. 13 for star's return from shoulder subluxation

The good news just keeps rolling in for the red-hot Golden State Warriors, who are currently on a season-long five-game winning streak. During an interview with local Bay Area radio station, 95.7 The Game, Warriors GM Bob Myers said Curry's rehab has been going well and the team is targeting their Jan. 13 matchup with the San Antonio Spurs for his return from a shoulder injury. Curry has not played since Dec. 14 when he suffered a subluxated shoulder against the Indiana Pacers. The injury did not require surgery and was expected to keep him out for about a month. Ahead of his scheduled re-evaluation this weekend, Curry seems to be right on track.  "He's gonna get evaluated this weekend, and he's working out on the court," Myers said. "The two-week mark to evaluate him would be this weekend, but there's been no setbacks or anything like that. The first road Game is Friday on San Anto

Mikel Arteta gives update on Reiss Nelson injury

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has offered an update on the injury suffered by Reiss Nelson in Saturday's friendly against Juventus, and discussed whether the injury will affect his side's January transfer plans. Nelson was forced off with an injury just 20 minutes into the clash at the Emirates, which Arsenal lost 2-0 due to own goals by Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding. The 23-year-old had made a bright start to the match, going close to scoring inside the opening minute, but now joins the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko on the Gunners' ever-growing injury list. Speaking after the game, Arteta told reporters: "We don’t know the extent of the injury. "The fact that he had to leave the pitch straight away is not good news, especially with someone like Reiss who is really powerful and fast. Let’s see what will happen." When asked if the injury to Nelson affected Arsenal's plans for the January transfer window, Arteta simply replied: "We k
