Four takeaways from Man Utd's humbling loss at Nottingham Forest

Image
For the 14th time already this season, Manchester United have lost a Game of Football . 14 defeats. Fourteen. We're technically not even out of the calendar year yet. The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening just days after prevailing 3-2 at home to Aston Villa following a stirring comeback. Club captain Bruno Fernandes warned pre-match at the City Ground that United should not think they had turned a corner for good though. Boy, did his comments feel more wise come full-time. "I don't want to talk about turning points because at the end of that game, we had too many moments where we thought it was going to be the turning point and it never really was," Fernandes said. "So it's about focusing on this game and not thinking if we win today it's going to change anything. For us at the moment, we have to go step-by-step, game-by-game, winning every game we have." So what went wrong this time for United? Where do they go fr

It's really, really great that a sport so loved as Football is so unserious. Nuno Espirito Santo reveals how Nottingham Forest 'controlled' Man Utd in 2-1 win

Image
Nuno Espirito Santo claimed Nottingham Forest "controlled" Manchester United during their 2-1 win in the Premier League on Saturday night. Second-half goals from Nicolas Dominguez and Morgan Gibbs-White cancelled out Marcus Rashford's equaliser to hand Forest a second win in three Game s under Santo, lifting them up to 15th and five points clear of the relegation zone. The victory comes soon after Chris Wood's hat-trick inspired a 3-2 success at Newcastle on Boxing Day and the newly-installed manager praised his players for showing steel, especially after Matt Turner's blunder gifted the Red Devils a route back into the game. "We controlled Manchester United, we know where they have quality. It's about being together. The players did well. "We had shot

Kevin De Bruyne makes Manchester City return against Sheffield United: how many games did he miss?

Pep Guardiola fooled us all . In his pre-match conference ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League Game against Sheffield United on Saturday, the former Barcelona head coach claimed “nothing had changed from the last Game ”, the victory over Everton, and the current Champions League holders had “the same injuries, plus John Stones.” The England defender would therefore join Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Jérémy Doku on the sidelines. De Bruyne named as a substitute against The Blades Or so we were led to believe. When the City line-up to face The Blades was revealed an hour before kick-off, most eyes were drawn to the list of substitutes, where De Bruyne’s name stood out like a sore thumb. Although Guardiola had revealed the Belgian was back in training and closing in on his return to action, nobody expected it to come in 2023. 2024 January transfer window: 10 players who desperately need a move

Image
It is never nice to see a player's career stall at a club where they seemingly have no future, especially when you are convinced they have the talent to shine elsewhere. A transfer window represents a chance for these players to remind everyone what they are capable of and on a more personal level, get back in their groove. We can never know exactly how a player feels about their career in a team they don't get picked for, but it can't be healthy from a mental perspective. January is an odd time to move as you simultaneously get players moving at the peak of their powers and in superb form, while you also get players that are lacking minutes and down on confidence. Honourable mention for Donny van de Beek, who seems to have sorted his immediate future out with a loan at Eintracht Frankfurt. Here's ten other top player s who could Van de Beek's lead, getting a move they desperately need. 1. Jadon Sancho Jadon Sancho is frozen out at Man Utd / Visionhaus/GettyImages
