The San Francisco Giants will host the Chicago Cubs for their series finale this Sunday from Oracle Park on the MLB Network. Chicago doubled down in Game two with a shutout victory, 4-0.

Cubs Betting Preview

Chicago comes in at 28-36 after defeating San Francisco. The Cubs have somewhat turned the tide on their west coast road trip after taking the first two Games from San Fran, and they’ll aim to complete the sweep Sunday. The Chicago offense is scoring 4.12 runs per Game, while batting .257, with a .335 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.31 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Nico Hoerner plated a pair of runs in the Game one victory, and he leads the Cubs in batting (.279) and hits (65). Seiya Suzuki has multiple hits in both Games in the Bay, and he’s right behind Hoerner for the team-lead at .278.

Hayden Wesneski (2-2, 4.72 ERA, 36 Ks) will get the call for Chicago. The second-year pitcher had another underwhelming outing in Anaheim, giving up four runs in 4.2 innings pitched. Wesneski delivered three quality starts prior to a DL stint in early May, but his two outings since returning haven’t provided optimism.

Giants Betting Preview

San Francisco comes in at 32-32 after falling to Chicago. The Giants have dropped back .500 after dropping the first two contests at home, and they’ll look to avoid being swept Sunday. The San Francisco offense is scoring 4.81 runs per Game, while batting .245, with a .317 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.97 ERA, with a 1.29 WHIP. Mike Conforto is hitless thru two Games, but he still leads the team in HR (12), with 31 RBI. J.D. Davis has been silent as well, but he still holds the team lead in RBI at 34. Thiaro Estrada has produced a run in two of the last three Games, and he leads SFG in batting (.293).

John Brebbia (2-0, 3.38 ERA, 34 Ks) will open the Game for San Francisco. The right-handed reliever delivered another solid outing in his bullpen start against Chicago last week, tossing two scoreless innings en route to a Giants win. Brebbia has only allowed a run in one of his last eleven outings, providing a ton of reliability.

Chicago vs San Francisco Trends

Chicago is 27-36 against the spread this season, with a 29-24-3 O/U record. San Francisco is 28-34 ATS this year, with a 26-28-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

San Francisco has been held in check at the plate this weekend, but I think they sense the vulnerability on the mound and come out swinging Sunday. Hayden Wesneski may find himself in trouble as the Giants bats are due for some kind of production at the plate here after being shut out last night. Another strong opening from John Brebbia feels likely here, and I like San Francisco getting back into the win column here. Back the Giants for the series finale.
