Unlike most leagues across Europe and indeed further afield, the Premier League keeps going throughout Christmas and New Year , as dictated by tradition. This season, between Thursday 21 December and Tuesday 2 January, there are only two days with no scheduled English top-flight fixtures - Christmas Day and Friday 29 December, with matches programmed for Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Players and coaches complaining about there being too many games at the elite level is nothing new, and never is the schedule busier than England than over the festive period. But fear not, worn-out Premier League stars, respite is just around the corner. When was the winter break introduced? How long will clubs have off? For just the second time ever, there will be a winter break in 2023-24 , which will see clubs have at least a 10-day period without a Game . The pause first occurred in the 2019-20 season, when one matchday was split across two weekends in February 2020, allowing...

It's fair to say that 2023 has been pretty shocking for Chelsea fans and they head to Luton Town knowing that they could end the calendar year in the bottom half of the Premier League. A late victory over Crystal Palace - particularly the first-half performance on Wednesday night - will give the fans, players and coach some hope that there are better times to come in the second half of the season, but all that promise could be punctured if they do anything other than win at Kenilworth Road this weekend. Chelsea are facing an in-form Luton. The Hatters beat Newcastle 1-0 and then won a dramatic match against fellow strugglers Sheffield United 3-2 on Boxing Day. Luton have not won three consecutive top-flight matches since 1991. Here is all you need to know about the Premier League's last Saturday lunchtime kick-off of 2023. What time does Luton Town vs Chelsea kick-off? Location : Luton, England Stadium : Kenilworth Road Date : Saturday 30 December Kick-off Time : 12:30 GMT / 0...

The Denver Broncos, the NFL ’s Colorado franchise, are currently fight ing for a playoff spot in December. Even though their quarterback, Russell Wilson, has been performing well under the coaching of Sean Payton, many were surprised by the news that he would be bench ed for the next two Game s. The Broncos are currently 7-8 with two games left to play in the regular season and are in contention for a playoff spot . Thus, it is surprising that Payton would choose to have his starting quarterback on the bench at this crucial season stage. Mauricio Pochettino says Christopher Nkunku needs to become more involved after starting his first game for Chelsea, but admits more adaptation is required. Nkunku joined Chelsea on a six-year deal earlier this summer, but had to wait until Christmas Eve to make his Premier League debut after sustaining a serious knee injury in pre-season. The 26-year-old marked that first Premier League outing with a goal, scoring a stoppage-time header as Chelsea slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Wolves, and was handed his first start by Pochettino in Wednesday's much-needed 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. Nkunku got 70 valuable minutes under his belt before being replaced by eventual match winner Noni Madueke, and Pochettino was pleased with his efforts while recognising that more is needed from the Frenchman as he acclimatises to his new surroundings. "He needs to adapt to the team and the Premier League, but he played more than 60 minutes and it was an important step for him," Pochettino remar...

Week 17 of the 2023 NFL season gets underway with a Thursday Night Football battle between the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns. New York is playing nothing more than the spoiler role, as it has long since been eliminated from playoff contention. Cleveland is 10-5 and looking to wrap up a postseason spot. Here is my Same Game Parlay for the festivities, which kick off at 8:15 pm ET on Amazon Prime. Also be sure to check out our full Jets vs Browns predictions . Browns -9.5 alternate spread (+116) David Njoku Over 51.5 receiving yards (-113) Breece Hall to record 60+ rushing yards (+200)   Parlay odds: +1423   Part of the value in a Same Game Parlay, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Browns tight end David Njoku racking up plenty of receiving yards would obviously work well with a big win by Cleveland. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is th...

As 1 January 2024 rolls around, we will set in motion the positive vibes for the start of another calendar year, at least once any hangovers from the night before have subsided. In the hectic world of English Football , this optimism from players and fans alike will refocus on the objectives for the season , somewhat tempered or adjusted by what has gone before in the first half of the campaign. Giving up on Premier League title ambitions but settling for a top four (or five) place may be the new goal. Confidently seeing the battle to avoid the dreaded drop out of the league as possible is another. And, of course, January brings with it the chance to bolster the squad with the winter transfer window opening. Premier League starts 2024 at Anfield The Premier League Game s over the festive period this year have been a delight in terms of excitement, at least for the neutrals out there, and the first day of the new year is, on paper, set to keep the fireworks cracking. That said, there ...

Apple on Tuesday appeal ed a decision to ban import s of its watch es based on a complaint from medical monitoring Technology company Masimo, after US President Joe Biden's administration declined to veto a government tribunal. The tech giant also filed an emergency request on Tuesday for the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to halt the ban. It asked the Federal Circuit to pause the ban at least until US Customs and Border Protection decides whether redesigned versions of its watches infringe Masimo's patents, and to put the ban on hold while the court considers Apple's request. The customs office is due to make its decision on Jan. 12, Apple said. Masimo has accused Apple of hiring away its employees, stealing its pulse oximetry Technology and incorporating it into the popular Apple Watch. The US International Trade Commission's (ITC) order bars imports and sales of Apple Watches that use technology for reading blood-oxygen lev...

The Sir Jim Ratcliffe era at Old Trafford got off to the perfect start as Manchester United roared to a 3-2 comeback victory over Aston Villa on Boxing Day. United were comically poor in defence as they conceded from two set-pieces in the first half, but from that point onwards, the Red Devils were the better team and they put on a show for INEOS representative Sir Dave Brailsford, who was watching on from the stands. Alejandro Garnacho netted twice after the break, having already seen a goal ruled out for offside, before Rasmus Hojlund netted his long-awaited first league goal late on to seal a dramatic victory. How the game unfolded Villa marginally had the better of the opening stages, although it was Christian Eriksen who had the first real sight of goal ten minutes in as he sent a long-range strike fizzing straight into the gloves of Emiliano Martinez. 22 minutes in, Villa took the lead in bizarre circumstances. McGinn floated in a free kick which bounced through a crowded six-...

The numbers posted by Ducati in the 2023  MotoGP  season knocked down every historical wall its rivals had put up in the past. From 20 rounds, Ducati riders scored 17 wins – the most of any marque in a single campaign. It scored 17 pole positions, 43 podiums in total, managed eight rostrum lockouts and won all three championships: riders’, constructors’, and the teams’ title with Pramac Racing. From going 14 years without a riders’ title, Ducati celebrated its third a little over 12 months after Francesco Bagnaia scored the company’s second. The Italian’s completion of a back-to-back success came in a dramatic finale at Valencia, where a Ducati rider was guaranteed to win the championship whatever happened. While it would be easy to chalk up Ducati’s statistics in 2023 simply to its sheer show of force in fielding eight riders, six of whom posted grand prix victories, its position as MotoGP’s dominator was the culmination of almost 10 year...
